Leading cardiology and gastrointestinal surgeons from Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, India led a scientific exchange with clinicians in Mauritius.

Expert clinicians from Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai in India recently journeyed to Mauritius to spearhead a CME (Continuing Medical Education) for the doctors of Mauritius aimed at empowering the healthcare system for the people of Mauritius. The event, hosted by Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai in association with the Cardiovascular Society of Mauritius and St. Jean Clinic, took place on the 9th of February at Le Docks, Port Louis.

img The CME was resounding success, drawing over 60 doctors from across Mauritius, including notable figures such as Dr. Sanjay Bucktowar – President of the Cardiovascular Society and Dr. Satish Kumar Deenoo, Secretary of the Cardiovascular Society in Mauritius.

The topics covered included ‘Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Spectrum at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai’ by Dr. Sanjeev Jadhav while Dr. Ketul Shah spoke on ‘Introduction to Surgical Gastroenterology & Liver Transplant Surgery’

The event facilitated a dialogue among the attending doctors, addressing the current healthcare challenges faced by the Mauritian people and exploring advances in technology. The team anticipates continued collaboration to uplift Mauritius’ healthcare sector and plans to organize more such events in the future.

Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai has successfully performed 9 heart transplants and has a successful transplant program. More than 200 liver transplants have been performed at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai of which 65 have been performed in children.
