What is IVF with frozen transfer?
FET, or Frozen Embryo Transfer, is an IVF treatment where a cryopreserved embryo from a previous IVF cycle is transferred to the woman's uterus. IVF involves fertilizing an ovum with sperm outside the body, then implanting the fertilized egg into the uterus. FET is often used when there are surplus embryos left after an IVF cycle.
Types of IVF for frozen transfer:
  • Using Surplus Embryos: Transferring cryopreserved embryos left from a previous IVF cycle.
  • Donor Embryos: Utilizing embryos donated by other couples, unrelated genetically to the intended parents.
  • Cancelled Fresh Transfers: Employing frozen embryos when fresh embryo transfers are canceled due to conditions like OHSS or other health issues.
